Underscores commitment to talent and technology in legal services
NEWS RELEASE: Cardium Law, a specialist London litigation firm, has appointed its first legal apprentice as part of the firm’s strategy to develop emerging talent alongside innovation in legal services.
Elizabeth Edson joins Cardium through the CILEX Level 3 Paralegal Apprenticeship programme, bringing with her a robust academic background and a wealth of relevant skills.
A history graduate from the University of Nottingham, she also holds certifications from ICAEW in accounting, assurance, law, business technology and finance. Elizabeth has demonstrated strong client-facing, analytical, and administrative capabilities, making her an exceptional fit for the firm’s high-stakes commercial litigation work.
New role assisting solicitors
Her apprenticeship at Cardium will see her assisting solicitors on complex litigation claims in the High Court, gaining hands-on experience in everything from drafting legal documents and managing sensitive case data to interacting with clients and attending court proceedings.
“Elizabeth’s appointment is more than just a milestone for our firm — it’s a signal of how we see the future,” said Matthew Clark, Director of Cardium Law. “We believe that investing in talented people and leveraging cutting-edge technology are not mutually exclusive — they are complementary forces that will shape the next generation of legal services.”
Elizabeth will work closely with the firm’s legal team and develop her skills through a blend of practical experience and structured learning. Her apprenticeship includes modules in ethics, legal systems, research, and a specialist area of law, as well as a professional end-point assessment to complete the two-year programme.
Redefining legal service experience
Cardium’s decision to bring an apprentice into its team aligns with its broader mission to redefine the legal service experience. The firm has already established itself as a pioneer in applying AI and digital workflows, including using AI to streamline case assessments, enabling lawyers to deliver faster, more effective outcomes for clients. Its paperless, carbon-conscious operations further reflect its ESG commitments.
“At Cardium, we’re not just preparing for the future — we’re actively building it,” added Matt Clark. “Welcoming apprentices like Elizabeth allows us to share our vision with the next generation of legal professionals while maintaining the highest standards of service in both UK and international markets.”
Cardium Law continues to deliver premier litigation services across the construction, business, and financial sectors, and Elizabeth’s appointment marks a significant step in its journey to cultivate excellence through innovation, sustainability, and talent development.
