Cardium embraces AI

Cardium Law has always been at the forefront of using technology to deliver efficiency and value for our clients.

As part of that mindset, we’re embracing Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Most recently, we’ve invested in new technology from Matter AI, which “intelligently examines your LEAP matter, delivering immediate answers and insights to save time and improve efficiency”.

Cardium’s Matt Clark says: “‘Since we adopted Matter AI, our processes have become significantly more efficient. The tool’s ability to produce basic analyses and chronologies has saved us a considerable amount of time, especially during initial assessments, allowing us to focus our investigations more effectively.”

The people at Matter AI have produced this case study about our work together to date.

Matter AI: Cardium Law
Leveraging AI to build case chronologies

About the Firm

Cardium Law was founded in 2017 and prides itself in using the latest technologies to deliver first-class litigation services to clients in the Construction, Business, and Finance industries. Based in London, their adoption of LEAP in 2019 has helped them become a carbon-friendly law firm, operating a paperless office and adopting innovations to interact with clients across the globe.

The Problem

Cardium Law experienced inefficiencies in its processes, particularly during initial assessments. A substantial amount of time was spent on basic analyses and the creation of chronologies, which hindered the ability to focus on more critical investigative tasks. This time-consuming approach not only affected productivity but also limited the depth and quality of the investigations being conducted. As a result, staff found it challenging to allocate their efforts effectively and make the most informed decisions during the assessment phase.

The Challenge

The firm faced challenges with the limitations of its existing methods using LEAP and found it difficult to identify a clear path to enhance productivity using LEAP alone. The manual nature of their analyses and chronology construction required significant time and resources, reducing the opportunity to focus on more valuable work.

As a firm that prides itself on using the latest tools to deliver first-class service to their clients, Cardium Law investigated the potential of Matter AI to enhance their workflow. As with all new technologies, there were small concerns regarding its potential effectiveness and the extent to which it could be integrated into their processes. There was also uncertainty about whether Matter AI would address the existing inefficiencies or simply add another layer of complexity. This created a cautious approach to adopting Matter AI.

Implementing Matter AI

Following the implementation of Matter AI, Cardium Law experienced improvements in its processes that greatly enhanced operational efficiency. Analyzing data and generating chronologies is simplified, which enables staff to produce these essential documents and understand the status of matters much more quickly, and with the same high degree of accuracy as completing these tasks manually. This efficiency saved considerable time during initial assessments, allowing team members to redirect their focus towards more in-depth investigations and concentrate on more valuable fee-earning work.

The Outcome

Since the adoption of Matter AI, Cardium Law’s processes have become increasingly more efficient. Staff can now conduct initial assessments more swiftly, resulting in better allocation of time and resources for subsequent investigations. This improvement has led to a more streamlined workflow and increased productivity.

Conclusion

Although the technology is new to the firm, there is a strong belief in its potential to further enhance productivity. The initial positive results demonstrate that Matter AI could be instrumental in driving continued improvements in efficiency and effectiveness across the firm’s operations.
